Well, my students have been continuously requesting this for a while. I’m hearing this request from several classes, and different students who don’t even know each other. Apparently it was a popular song at Prom.
Anyhoo, here is the chord progression to Rihanna’s song “Stay.” It’s actually pretty easy to play, just simple block chords the entire song, all quarter notes. I tried to arrange it so there was as little movement as possible in the right hand. Also be aware that the right hand goes to bass clef about 2/3 of the way through. I did this to avoid so many ledger lines. There is also a “DS Al Fine,” which means to go back to the sign and keep playing to the end. I tried to indicate the different sections of the song with the lyrics so it would be easy to sync up with the recording. The left hand just plays whole notes. The notes are low, but you can click here if you want the notes.
Well, I hope you enjoy this song! It’s hard to find easy arrangements, so hopefully this can help everyone out there. You can play it hands together or hands apart and still have fun. Enjoy!
